Cecily Ryan - Dancer
Cecily Ryan grew up in Missoula, MT and started her dance training at Danceworks, the Garden City Ballet (GCB), and the Missoula Dance Academy (Jan Snow, Monica Mudgett-Vere Schute, Michele Antonioli). During this time, she performed in many of the classical ballets produced by GCB in addition to new works. She attended college in Cambridge, MA and Pasadena, CA in materials science, continuing with her ballet training at The Dance Complex (Liz Lapuh), Le Studio (Charles and Philip Fuller), and USC’s Glorya Kaufman School of Dance (Margo Apostolos). Upon moving to the San Francisco Bay Area, she branched out into other movement forms including fusion bellydance, becoming a certified Datura Style instructor. While at graduate school for engineering, she also studied for 5 years at Stanford Dance, primarily focusing on modern technique and performance under Diane Frank (Merce Cunningham Technique) and artist in residence Robert Moses. Upon returning to Montana in 2016, she was excited to find class and performance opportunities with IndepenDANCE, Collective Movement, and Mountain Air Dance, in addition to RDE. She is grateful to work, create, and perform with the talented choreographers and dancers of RDE and contribute to the artistic community of Bozeman.
