Proctor Charlier - Teacher, Choreographer

Proctor Charlier began dancing at age 4 in her home state of North Carolina at a small studio run by a dancer from the Ed Sullivan Show in New York City. When her family relocated to South Carolina at age 10, she began intensive training with Charleston Ballet Theater and joined them at age 15 on an East Coast tour which helped ignite her love for combining travel and dancing. After attending Virginia School of the Arts for high school, she moved to Chicago immediately after graduating to train with Gus Giordano Jazz Dance Chicago on scholarship, the Ruth Page Ballet School, and Hubbard Street Dance. Proctor started her career performing as dancer and singer on USO tours in Europe, then performed with Walt Disney Entertainment. After dancing in the United States and Europe with the contemporary company "Thodos Dance”, Proctor joined the Radio City Rockettes for eight years, making appearances in The Today Show, Good Morning America, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade and more. She taught ballet, tap and Precision Jazz between shows to students in Long Island, New York.

After leaving New York City, she traveled the world for four years with a backpack and her husband while working and teaching abroad, looking for the ideal place to live. They chose Bozeman where they have enjoyed living since 2014, raising their three sons and being so grateful to live in Montana. Proctor is thrilled to have been a part of Raison d’être since 2018, first as a stand-in dancer for their debut performance, and eventually as a rehearsal assistant, teacher and choreographer, believing in their mission to push the boundaries of performance art and always striving to be bigger, brighter, and more of everything.
